Doctoral School

The Doctoral School

Since 1996, the Institute has been organising doctoral studies within the School of Advanced Studies of the Romanian Academy (SCOSAAR).

As a doctoral-organising institution, the “George Bariţiu” Institute of History awards doctorates in History, specialising in the medieval, modern, and contemporary history of Romania, as well as in cultural history. The fundamental objective of organising and conducting doctoral studies in the field of history at the “George Barițiu” Institute of History is to train highly qualified, elite specialists for academic scientific research, university and pre-university education, and administrative and managerial fields of activity. Doctoral studies in history are organised at the “George Barițiu” Institute of History in accordance with the provisions of the National Education Law and Law No. 752/2001 on the organization and functioning of the Romanian Academy, with subsequent additions and amendments, while local details/particularities are regulated by the SCOSAAR Regulations, approved by the Presidium and General Assembly of the Romanian Academy.
